Earlier this week I told you to "choose a job you Earlier this week I told you to "choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life". It's such a great quote as it sets you in a great mindset and fills your soul with love.
⠀
Today my advice to you is to do what makes your soul shine. You're at your best when you're doing what you love, so follow your passions and let your inner light shine out!
⠀
Whether you decide to follow the apprenticeship route, or go to university or just take a year or two out of education and work all together, don't feel that you are making the wrong choice. Feel it from your soul and let it shine.
⠀
One of the secrets to true happiness is to do what you love, and to choose an occupation that you are passionate about. Every day will seem like an adventure and work will never seem like a chore. Find what makes your soul shine and makes you happy, and then do this. If it will never be boring or dull, and at the end you will not have any regrets about what you did and the life that you lived.

Are you thinking of starting an apprenticeship? Be Are you thinking of starting an apprenticeship? Becoming an apprentice offers many benefits, including gaining skills and experience employers want, earning a nationally recognised qualification, paying no learning costs or student finance and receiving all employee benefits.
⠀
Below we’ve put together some handy tips to help you through your journey as an apprentice.
⠀
1. Research
How much research do you do before you take on an apprenticeship? Think about why you want to do an apprenticeship, the type of apprenticeship you are interested in doing and make sure it is something you will enjoy.
⠀
2. Network
Getting to know the people you will be working with is so important for your future career. Network with your team, connect with them and ensure you are being part of the team.
⠀
3. Ask questions
Remember you are just starting off your career and learning the trade. The company is not expecting you to know everything, so if you’re struggling with anything, ask your seniors or colleagues for support.
⠀
4. Show enthusiasm
Showing interest in your work will ensure you are recognised by your seniors and will help you move up the ladder quicker. You might not find every task interesting, but showing enthusiasm to do the job will go a long way.
⠀
5. Become organised
Being an apprentice isn’t just doing the job, you will also be attending college and completing assignments. This is your best time to become organised, manage your time effectively and learn new ways of working.
⠀
6. Look the part
When you start a new job, it’s important to look the part. Dressing up not only helps you fit in but makes you feel confident within the role. So get out there and get a new wardrobe.
⠀
Are you doing an apprenticeship or thinking of it? What advice would you offer? Let us know below 👇
Some amazing advice right here!  ⠀ This quote d Some amazing advice right here!
⠀
This quote doesn’t mean that you will never work a day in your life. Rather it implies that when you love your work, it feels like a choice more than a burden. It adds value and meaning to your life, and fills your soul with love rather than hate.
⠀
My advice to you is don’t give up looking for your dream job. Don’t settle for any job just because you need the money. Keep aiming high towards getting that dream job.
⠀
I went through several jobs before I knew I was happy in my job. Remember you will always have some discomfort in your work. No job is perfect but look for that job that you are willing to suffer some discomfort because it’s just that important to you.
⠀
I’ll leave you with something to think about. You do not have to find that elusive dream job before you can find meaning in your work. You can still decide WHO you want to be when you show up every day to do your job, regardless of what it is.
It’s apprenticeship week and this week we are go It’s apprenticeship week and this week we are going to be sharing advice and jobs on everything to do with apprenticeships. There are many benefits to becoming an apprentice and below we share some that may resonate with you.
⠀
1.	Earn while you learn.
As an apprentice, you still get paid for the work you do right from the beginning of your apprenticeship. There is an opportunity to increase your wage once your first year of training is complete.
⠀
2.	Get recognised qualifications.
Each level of your apprenticeship only lasts one year and rewards you with a qualification you can showcase to future employers.
⠀
3.	Gain practical experience.
By the time you finish your apprenticeship, you will not only be qualified but you will also have the skills and experience in your industry that others fresh out of university will not have.
⠀
4.	Improve your employability.
Doing an apprenticeship makes you more employable for your future employers. Future employers will be able to see that you can do a full-time job whilst studying. They will be able to see your dedication to the work and will value your work ethic.
⠀
5.	Benefit from personalised support.
When you begin an apprenticeship, you are assigned an assessor who will be responsible for guiding you through your course and your work. They will be on hand whenever you need them and provide you with support throughout your apprenticeship journey.
⠀
If you’re thinking of becoming an apprentice, take the leap today and see how an apprenticeship may benefit you. Go give @yourfutureforward a follow. Molly is a recent apprentice of Google and discusses all things apprenticeships.

⠀
Let's not get into the basics, but touch base on your personal statement and work experience.
⠀
I’ve looked at hundreds of CVs over my career and every one of them has been different. I personally do not spend too much time on the candidates education or hobbies, although as important as the rest of your CV, but most of my time gets spent reviewing your personal statement and your work experience. The hobbies and education get discussed during the interview.
⠀
If you’re struggling to write a personal statement, think about it from the employers view point. We look at your personal statement with keen eyes. What makes you stand out from the rest? What skills do you have that fit the role? Explain in a short paragraph, who you are, what you can offer and what your career goals are. Look at the job description and relate your experience to the role. If the job description is looking for someone with excellent analytical skills, make sure you highlight how your personal experience covers this.
⠀
Work experience is another tough one, especially for those that don’t have much to show. Include the job title, company name, time in the role and your key responsibilities. But also, highlight what you have achieved in your role. I would personally create a separate section for your achievements. This is your chance to showcase what makes you the perfect candidate for the job. List your skills and achievements with key examples, and make it clear how these could apply to the role.
⠀
You might only have retail experience, but think about what skills you gained that can really stand out in the role you are applying for. Customer service skills, teamwork skills, verbal skills and so on. You may have become retail person of the month, you may have helped a customer through a stressful situation. Bring these skills and achievements to your CV.
⠀
If you haven’t got any work experience, focus on your education experience. Don’t think you don’t have anything to show, delve deeper into your life and bring out those experiences.
⠀

⠀
Facing another virtual semester at uni, whilst in a pandemic can be a challenge. During this time, it’s important to keep our minds and body healthy so we can be fully engaged when we are joining virtual classes.
⠀
I’ve seen many people zone out of their class, being distracted by other things or just not having the energy to be sat at their computer for another zoom call. It’s exhausting, I know! You're at your computer all day, and then you're being asked to join zoom call, after zoom call, after zoom call. You sure will be distracted to do other things.
⠀
To ensure you avoid student burnout and get the most of your time on camera, we’ve put together some useful tips to help.
⠀
1. Make time for yourself.
It may seem obvious, but how many of you actually spend time doing things you enjoy? Find some time to read a book, go for a walk, bake a cake. It’s the little activities that will keep your mind at ease.
⠀
2. Make time to see friends & family.
I know we are being told to stay at home, but you are allowed to see your support bubble if you are on your own. You're also allowed to continue exercising outside with one other person or with your support bubble. You should maintain social distancing, but it’s a great way to meet others and get some sanity. It’s also good for your mind to have these interactions during these stressful times.
⠀
3. Think ahead and don’t procrastinate.
It’s easy to put off an assignment to a later date but you never know what might happen closer to your hand in date. By pushing your assignments back, you will end up stressing over it at a later date. So, think ahead and try and complete your assignments as and when you get them.
⠀
4. Keep your body healthy.
It’s important to get enough sleep. Try and get anywhere from 7-9 hours. Keep your water bottle filled up and take regular breaks. Keeping your body healthy will ensure your mind is healthy. This will then allow you to focus more when it comes to those dreaded zoom lectures.
⠀

Why should I hire you? ⠀ "Because I'm hardworkin Why should I hire you?
⠀
"Because I'm hardworking, determined, dedicated, blah blah blah - Thank you, we will be in touch."
⠀
How many of you are guilty of just throwing out words that you think will land you the job? How many of you have got that far and then didn't hear back from the interviewer?
⠀
STOP! Think about your next steps. Getting to this stage of the job interview where you are asked why you should be hired, is your final opportunity to really sell yourself. Don't be like every other candidate that comes into the room and says the same thing. Think about what you have that can benefit the company. What you can bring to the table that no one else can. What skills you have that can really make a difference.
⠀
Just saying you're hard working or dedicated won't land you the job. You probably will not even get any good feedback, let alone being invited in for any further interviews.
⠀
Think about how you can fit in with the culture of the team. What skills and experience make you stand out. Provide some examples of the time you did something that made a difference and how you can bring those experiences to this role.
⠀
Think about the role, mention what they are looking for and what you have done previously that fits in with the job profile. Throw in some achievements you have received in your past experience. Maybe you're applying for a sales roles and you were once named sales person of the year.
⠀
Plan ahead of the interview and prepare yourself, as it will make the difference between you getting the job or your competition getting the job.

Is your job or future job secure? ⠀ Automation h Is your job or future job secure?
⠀
Automation has been around for some time but the pace of automation has accelerated during the pandemic.
⠀
In April 2020, the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, said that Microsoft had "seen two years' worth of digital transformation in just two months".
⠀
With automation comes job displacement and unfortunately it seems there is correlation between the jobs that are most at risk due to automation and the jobs lost due to covid-19, creating a double whammy for those unlucky enough to work in those sectors.
⠀
Here's a quick break down of those sectors at the higher end of the risk scale, with the % of jobs potentially displaced by automation:
⠀
- Wholesale and retail (68%)
- Manufacturing (37%)
- Accommodation and food services (94%)
- Construction (58%)
- Transportation and storage (50%)
⠀
With this information, the future generation of our workforce need to look at ways they can ensure they are upskilled and provide value to a company. It's more important today to ensure that you as our future, know more than is required for the job.
⠀
If you're currently working, encourage your business leaders to support your career development, as the decisions your company makes today will ensure their long-term success as well.
⠀
Here's some ways to upskill yourself:
⠀
1. Take on projects outside your usual remit at work
2. Stay plugged in to industry leaders with blogs, podcasts, social media
3. Join a professional association
4. Take relevant online courses
5. Learn on the job and off the job with employer support
6. Get a mentor
7. Network, get yourself on LinkedIn and work it
⠀
The ball is in your court. Prioritise upskilling yourself now and you will have a huge advantage going into the future.

One thing I always look at is if there's any gaps in your employment history. Maybe you've been travelling, maybe you took time out for health reasons or maybe you couldn't find work, whatever the reason you should never have a gap in your employment history.

How can you get around it? We can assume many of you haven't been able to work this past year due to the covid-19 pandemic, but why should you let that impact your opportunity to find employment.

If someone came to me at the beginning of 2020 and If someone came to me at the beginning of 2020 and said "get your sh!t together, the world's about to go into turmoil", I would have never believed a word they were saying.
⠀
Fast forward several months, 2020 has come and gone and we've been stuck in several different lockdowns with nowhere to go. If I knew that was going to happen I would have packed my bags and got myself out of here.
⠀
But how much do we think about what students are going through? Since the first lockdown, students have suffered exponentially. Not only has education moved to online classes, but students have had to pay for rent and tuition fees that they have not been able to fully utilise.
⠀
Covid has denied first years their Freshers' week and hours of face-to-face teaching. It's left students delaying graduation, losing jobs, internships, or job offers and reduced earnings.
⠀
In June 2020, @youngmindsuk conducted a survey that showed 74% of teachers and school staff agreed that schools being closed to most students over the period of lockdown has a negative impact on the mental health of young people.
⠀
Students from over 45 unis are pledging to withhold rent during this latest lockdown and with the government restrictions reducing the number of students returning in person to universities, now is the time for the government to seriously consider the financial implications for students and institutions and share what support they will provide.
⠀
With all this in mind, what are you doing differently today that you wouldn't have been doing some months ago? Share your thoughts below 👇
Has the covid-19 pandemic left you thinking...WTF! Has the covid-19 pandemic left you thinking...WTF! It sure has for me. It's definitely left students wondering what's happening with their education.
⠀
Over the next weeks or even months, the government is expecting students to study from home, attend virtual seminars and get an education.
⠀
We've put together 5 tips on how you can study effectively whilst stuck at home or in university.
⠀
1. Sort out your study space
Make some room for you to study. If you have a desk, start decluttering and remove unwanted items. If you don't have a desk, find a dedicated area where you can study. Again, make sure the area is clear from clutter, is quiet and spacious enough for your study materials.
⠀
2. Create a timetable
Get yourself organised and plan your week of studying. Schedule your study times, your breaks and ensure you get an hour's lunch break. don't be waking up at 11am and thinking, let's see how the day goes. Try to have a routine and keep your weekends free to recharge your batteries.
⠀
3. Communicate
It's always beneficial to study with others. Engage with your peers via video, set up video study groups, share your thoughts, ideas and collaborate. Communicating also helps with your mental health. Also, try reaching out to your teachers for support. They are always on hand to help.
⠀
4. Set yourself goals
Having goals in mind will help you stay productive and motivated throughout the day. Remember to make sure your goals are achievable and realistic.
⠀
5. Take advantage of productivity apps
How many apps do you have on your phone? Are any of them helping with your studies? We live in a digital age and there's an app for everything these days. Here's a few of our favourite:
