NeuroSupport services are currently recruiting Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants with a background of Brain Injury and Mental health experience to support services users with an acquired Brain Injury. Our service aims to support rehabilitation and in enabling people to optimise independence and quality of life.
We are looking for psychology graduates,support Workers and Healthcare Assistants or suitable candidates who would be willing to support people both within their home environment and also willing to provide support in helping service users access the community.
Successful candidates will be willing to help people adapt to their limitations, but also strive to reach their goals. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement behavioural, psychological, and cognitive strategies, as well as support with daily living activities. Therapy Assistants should be confident with working independently and providing empirical feedback where necessary.
Client Requirements:
18 year old client who is deaf with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.
He requires hoisting for transfers and we have just ordered him a standing wheelchair to make it easier to toilet him with a bottle.
He basically requires someone to play console games with him, and to go out in the garden with him (Large grounds). Eventually he may need 2:1 people to take him out for days out. He also needs
assistance with eating and drinking orally, as he has not hand control. His grandparents will be at home to assist with personal care and it is an introduction to additional care support for them. He has a good therapy team in place who can provide training on his communication device, switch access activities, physiotherapy and moving and handling.
It is a great learning opportunity for someone to learn sign language as well. He requires someone who is pro-active and young , with similar interests to him.
University student would be ideal. However, they are open to anyone who is young at heart and willing to find activities for the client to do.
Hours Available: 8 hours on Fridays
During school holidays 24 hours- 8 hour 3 times a week
Hourly Rate:
£10-14per hour depending on experience.
Successful Candidates will:
* Have access to full Training including Brain Injury Awareness Training
* CPD opportunities
* Will be subject to Full Enhanced DBS
* Competitive Hourly Rate
* Gain Experience working with an MDT
Successful candidates must:
* Be Reliable
* Be Adaptable
* Be Resilient
* Have at least three-six months experience of working in a support worker role, in the past three years.
* Have a Full UK Driving License (advantageous)
* Have Excellent Communication skills
* Have Experience in the field of Psychology
* Willing to become self-employed
